We all know Xi’an packs a cultural and historical punch, but what if you’ve got little kids with you? There are a surprising amount of places, both in and outdoors, that both children and the whole family will enjoy. Here’s the round up:

Shaanxi Nature Museum


The SNM’s collection contains over 20 thousand specimens, some dating back to 3.7 billion years ago! There is a lot to be found here, that will interest the young mind in four different exhibition areas: Nature Hall, Technology Hall, Fulldome Theatre and Outdoor Exhibition Areas.

Don’t miss the huge glass sphere in the Science and Technology Exhibition Hall that represents the “sun”, and the crescent shape in the Natural Exhibition Hall that represents the “moon”. The museum is hands on, and offers up the chance to learn about dinosaurs, butterflies, spiders, parrots, and more.

LEHUA City 88°C Spring Water World


Who doesn’t love water parks! Especially in Xi’an’s scorching summers. This Hot Spring Resort has it all, from outdoor venues to indoor venues. The outdoor area consists of themed areas such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Underwater World, Tropical Rain-forest and Sea World – which is mainly for children. The indoor consists of four floors in the kingdom of Atlantis including a playground area, spa area and Korean-style sauna area.

As you can see, there is something for everyone. If you’re lucky mummies can relax in the spa, whilst daddies can take the children around, or enjoy themselves.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda Fountain Show


The big wild goose pagoda fountain is located in the North Square of Dayan Tower. It is the largest sculpture square in Asia. There are two 100-meter-long group sculptures, 8 groups of large-scale figure sculptures, and 40 relief sculptures.


At night, it might be a place to bring the kids – it gets lit up like a Christmas tree, with blaring tunes to match. The shows are mainly set to classical music, with brightly coloured choreographed light and water displays.

Even though many city squares have regular music fountain shows, this one is a must go as it is the most grand and the most pretty sight.

Xi’an QinLing Wildlife Park


Xi’an Qinling Wildlife Park was founded in 1954 and moved to the foot of Qinling Mountain in 2004. It is the largest bird park and the largest panther base in the country.


Pandas, takins and golden monkeys are the main animals to be found as a characteristics of the QinLing mountain. Apart from animals, you can explore the nature through wandering along flowers, lakes, mountains, trees, birds and various others.

The beast area is known for making tourists’ hair stand on end. There are over 200 predators raised there including Siberian tiger, African lion, brown bear, black bear, a wolf and various others. Sometimes the tigers run after tourist busses, creating a “hair-rising” experience for the family!

Qujiang Polar Ocean Park


Covering an area of 11.5 acres Qujiang Polar Ocean Park is one of the largest ocean theme parks in China. It comprises of multiple functions including polar ocean experience, leisure and entertainment, and science education, among others.

There are penguins, polar bears, polar wolves, dolphins, sea lions, seals and other lovely polar animals. Children would definitely enjoy this experience as they can explore different aquatic shows and wander around.

After the appointment is successful, the reservation telephone number and valid certificate are used to cash the ticket at the ticket window of the scenic spot, or to enter the park with their ID card.

Air Factory Trampoline Hall


Jump for joy and sweat out the stress in an afternoon at the trampoline hall

This place is for you if you don’t mind working up a bit of a sweat! The giddy, childlike joy of going for a bounce on trampoline is one that comes with excitement and happiness. If the weather is not suitable for outdoor activity, this is what you need to look for.

The air factory trampoline covers an area of more than 1,000 square meters. It is a large-scale trampoline mechanism integrating fitness, leisure and entertainment. It has a variety of recreational areas and is the largest indoor trampoline park in Xi’an so far, perfect fun for a family day out.

Hancheng Lake Kayak


Hancheng lake is close to the site of Chang’an city of Han Dynasty.
