6. Luxuriate in a hot spring bath at the royal Huaqing Palace, where emperors took baths in ancient times.
Huaqing Palace, also known as Huaqing Hot Springs, is a well-known historic site and as a matter of fact, the site had been an imperial palace for emperors’ short stays away from the capital for more than 3000 years. Emperors of Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui and Tang dynasties spent the winter at this place every year. Emperor Zhouyouwang of Western Zhou Dynasty (1046BC-771BC) is said to be the first emperor who ordered to build a palace at the site. In the following dynasties, the palace was repaired and expanded for several times, given the name of “Hot Spring Palace” and finally denominated “Huaqqing Palace” by Emperor Tangxuanzong. The palace was constructed above hot springs, hence the site is also called “Huaqing Hot Springs”.

Mount Huashan is located in Huayin, part of the Shaanxi province. The closest city, Xiâan, is 120 kilometers away. The teahouse of the top of the mountain is located on the south side of the mountain, at an altitude of 2,160 meters. Viewed on a map, the Huashan mountain chain looks like a flower.

Qinling Wildlife Park, situated in the middle section of Qinling Mountains, is the first park of its kind to be established in the northwest region in China. 28 kilometers (about 17 miles) south of the downtown area of Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, this wildlife park has more than 300 species of animals, with many different types of birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles.

Xicang Market locates at the north side of Miaohoujie Street at northwest corner of Xian City Wall. It is the best known market of flowers, birds, fishes, and insects. The marketâs history can be dated back to the Ming and the Qing Dynasties and it is the most bustling on Thursdays and Sundays. Though it is difficult to find some taste of elegant ancient street, the market bears Xian peopleâs lifestyle throughout the hundreds of years.

20. Explore Dahua 1935
Built in 1840, the site was the first modern textile mill for China. After a fire during WWII almost burned the factory to the ground, a series of renovations were undertaken, thus giving it a mixed aesthetic of Gregorian and postwar architecture. Since then, it has taken on a different life as a museum and shopping center but fails to attract visitors, thus leaving it in a state of disarray and making it the perfect location for you to visit and soak-up the historic culture surrounding this historic site!
