If you have a dog in Xi’an you need to pay notice to the recent new rules regarding raising dogs which have been introduced, targeting No Dog areas in Xi’an and inappropriate behaviours on walking dogs in public areas are among the ban.

Dogs are prohibited in all parks Xi’an

Currently the new rule have stated that dogs are not allowed to enter any park in Xi’an. In the unwalled parks, there will be police and staff from relevant departments going out on patrol.

Other No-Dog-Allowed Areas

According to the Regulations on Raising Dogs in Xian, no-dog-allowed areas include urban squares, parks, urban main roads, walking paths, administrative areas, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, cultural relic protection sites, museums, libraries, stadiums, places of entertainment, restaurants, hotels, buses, urban railway systems and taxies.

How you’ll be fined for breaking the rules

* Dogs with license will be fined 50 to 200rmb each;

* For first time offenders, a warning will be given with a record on file;

* Second time offenders will be fined with 200rmb;

* Dogs with no license being caught will be confiscated on site

Your passport, rental agreement or residency certificate issued by the estate management of your residence community, a 3-inch colour photo of your dog and the certificate of your dog being vaccinated with rabies (This must be done at a government sanctioned pet hospital).
