Famen Temple is known as the origin of pagoda temple in Guanzhong area. In the early Tang Dynasty, it was renamed “Famen Temple”, known as the “royal temple”. As the home to the finger bone relic of Sakyamuni Buddha, it became a holy Buddhist land.

法门寺有“关中塔庙始祖之称”。在唐初改名“法门寺”，被誉为“皇家寺庙”，因安置释迦牟尼佛指骨舍利而成为举国仰望的佛教圣地。
